SK Report – Terry Yarborough, W5TWY

Terry W5TWY passed on Monday, May 14th.   He was an active member of the Alamogordo Amateur Radio Club (AARC) and will be missed greatly by many.

Jaymee Gardner, the youngest daughter of Sean KD6CUB, passed her Technician exam on 2 June at the W5ES VE exam.

Jaymee has been active with ham radio for years, and even accompanied her dad to work on the 146.88 repeater site on North Mt. Franklin on January 1, 2012!

Congrats to Jaymee!   Hope to hear you on the air soon!

The Sun City Amateur Radio Club will be hosting an Amateur Radio “Kids Day” on Saturday, June 16, from 9 AM to 4 PM at the K5WPH Clubhouse, 3709 Wickham Ave., El Paso, Texas.

Kids Day is designed to give on-the-air experience to young people and hopefully foster interest in getting a license of their own.  It is also intended to give older hams a chance to share their station and love for Amateur Radio with their children.

Everyone is welcome to stop by the clubhouse during the day and learn more about amateur radio.  This is a great event for your kids, grandkids, Scout troop, church group, or to the general public.

Read more about ARRL Kids Day at:  http://www.arrl.org/kids-day/

Make plans to participate in the ARRL Field Day 2018.

It runs from 12 noon local on Saturday, June 23 thru 12 noon local on Sunday, June 24.

Read more about it at:  http://www.arrl.org/field-day.

The El Paso Amateur Radio Club (W5ES) will be operating from their clubhouse, 2100 San Diego Ave El Paso, TX.  The clubhouse will open around 9 AM for set-up, and operations will start at 12 noon.  They will need operators, so please come out and help.  All hams and visitors are welcome.

The Sun City Amateur Radio Club (K5WPH) will be operating from their clubhouse, 3709 Wickham Ave., El Paso, Texas.  The clubhouse will be open around 8 AM, and operations will start at noon.  All hams and visitors are welcome.

If you are a new ham and need some radio operating experience, or don’t have an HF station on the air yet, this is a great opportunity to have some fun operating the stations at both clubs, making contacts all around the world, logging the contacts, learning how to operate the radios, and fellowshipping with other hams.
